User-Centricity at its Best: European Cities Present Best Practices at Progress Meeting

On 26 and 27 May 2021 UserCentriCities convened its first progress meeting. The meeting was dedicated to giving European cities and regions the stage. Alongside the audience of European policymakers, the municipalities of Murcia, Rotterdam, Tallinn, Espoo, and Milan as well as the Emilia-Romagna region presented outstanding user-centric public services.

Amongst others, their best practices ranged from a co-developed audio-visual digital platform for local culture and heritage consumption, over a pro-active home street portal to the option of scheduling video appointments with local administrations. Their contributions form the basis of UserCentriCities’ best practice repository, a collection of Europe’s most user-centric local public services. All best practice presentations can be revisited via UserCentriCities’ YouTube playlist.

Additionally, the participants had the chance to look beyond Europe: In the light of peer-to-peer learning Barry Thomas, general manager of the data standards body of the Treasury of Australia, gave an inspiring keynote on the importance of Consumer Experience Standards and Guidelines, how they can be put into effect and implemented at scale.

Inspired by the high quality of services presented, we are looking for more and kindly invite you to share your best practices with us.
